Today on the podcast we welcome Catherine Arnston, CEO and founder of ENERGYbits. Catharine started ENERGYbits after her sister was diagnosed with breast cancer and advised by her oncologist that an alkaline diet would help her heal. Catharine immediately sprung into action to help her sister research alkaline foods and in the process she discovered algae. When Catharine learned that algae was the most alkaline, plant-based, nutrient-dense food in the world and had been used for fifty years in Asia to improve health and longevity, she knew she had discovered something big.
In this episode Catharine gets down to the nitty gritty about the two types of edible algae: spirulina and chlorella, and all their incredible health benefits. We learn how algae is the most eco-friendly and sustainable crop in the world, on top of how the UN and NASA both endorsed it as the most nutrient dense food in the world. We both learned so much from Catharine - she really is a powerhouse of knowledge on algae -- and we both now incorporate ENERGYbits products into our own diets. We personally take the Vitality Bits regularly to keep our immune systems strong!
Catharine and her team have also graciously given our listeners a code for 20% off -- just use code: CWPodcast at checkout and visit www.energybits.com to shop products and learn even more!

Today on the podcast we sit down with Angela Mavridis founder of TRIBALÍ Foods! As a kid in her grandmother’s kitchen in Greece, Angela discovered the nurturing power of real foods. Angela saw her grandmother happily cooking, a naturally paleo diet, from scratch — using only real organic, local, and heirloom foods. Ironically, back in the states, Angela’s dad owned a fast-food hamburger drive-thru serving up burgers, fries, and shakes. With a busy schedule, the family ordered dinner from their restaurant more often than not. On her quest for healthier eating, Angela became a vegetarian at the age of 13.
As an adult, She was constantly bloated and tired -- and was suffering from a variety of unidentifiable health issues that were masked by modern medicine. She decided to go back to school and become a holistic nutritionist -- and after years of fueling her body with endless combinations of protein powders, shakes, supplements, and bars, she decided to return to her original way of eating when growing up in Greece.
After 35-years as a vegetarian, she came to realize that clean animal meats paired with real, ancestral ingredients made her feel better physically and emotionally. Within days, her gut and digestive issues subsided and her body started to heal. Making it her mission to capture the magic of her grandmother’s kitchen in a way that fits into today’s busy lifestyles, Angela got cooking -- and her business was born. Today, TRIBALÍ Foods seeks and sources 100% organic high-quality animal meats — from grass fed and grass finished pastured beef to free-range chicken, humanely raised pork, and wild-caught seafood — to create a flavorful, versatile, and nutrient-dense centerpieces for wholesome, satisfying meals. On this episode, Angela takes us through her incredible personal journey as we discuss all things food, diet, meat industry, and TRIBALÍ.

Grigore Madikians of Gaffer & Child on Skin Care, Self Care and Radiating In the World
Wednesday Mar 11, 2020
Wednesday Mar 11, 2020
On this episode we sit down with Grigore Madikians the founder and creator of Gaffer & Child, a company that uses clean skincare to inspire mindful living. Grigore shares his personal story of struggling with problem skin and the harsh chemical products he was given as treatment. Using these products ignored his own core beliefs around sustainability and how he wanted to treat his body, but was unable to find an alternative -- so he started to create his own natural skin care products!
In the last two decades of making his own natural skin-care products, he has learned so much about the farmers who sustainably grow the ingredients, the health and safety of people using the products, how we improve our local economies when we buy from businesses within our own communities, and how we show respect to the creatures we share this planet with by not using them in product testing.
In this conversation we discuss the unique Gaffer & Child products, his commitment to self care rituals through skincare and beyond, and so much more! We can’t wait for you to hear this conversation -- and also have a special discount code for our listeners. For 33% off all Gaffer & Child products, visit GafferandChild.com and use the code: courageouswellness at checkout.

This week on the podcast we are happy to bring you a conversation with Cynthia Tice, founder of the popular sugar-free chocolate brand, Lily’s Sweets. In everything they make, Lilys sources Non-GMO and gluten-free ingredients harvested through Fair Trade practices, and ensures every product is botanically sweetened—meaning no refined or processed sugars. On this episode Cynthia takes us through her own journey with food and how she was a pioneer in the natural foods business with her own Philadelphia market in the late 1970’s. In the early 2000’s she kicked sugar for good but of course her love of chocolate made that difficult. In 2010 she and her long time friend, launched lily’s sweets and since then Lily’s have grown and become a mainstream staple for all of us who want to enjoy well sourced delicious chocolate without the added sugar!
Cynthia has now transitioned to overseeing Lily’s philanthropic work, which has been a core component of the company, since its inception. Lily’s pledges a percentage of its earnings to non-profit organizations that support the fight against childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. If you are interested in how to be a conscious entrepreneur and how to create wonderful products without compromising quality, you won’t want to miss this conversation with Cynthia! We are sure it’s going to make your mouth water for some healthy chocolate alternatives this February!
