This week on the podcast we welcome Culinary Nutrition Expert, Erin Smandych, to the show. Erin spent years on a roller coaster of restrictive eating, cleanses, and dieting. Now she helps other driven women ditch the diet mentality and food stress through nutrition and mindset coaching so they can look and feel their best -- without the struggle.
On this episode, we discuss Erin’s personal journey from a job in corporate finance to her current work as a culinary nutrition expert, we discuss ditching diet culture, her easy and accessible cooking and nutrition tips, and we also touch on the dark side of the wellness industry. This week on Courageous Wellness we have an eye opening and incredible conversation with Allison Evans, the co-founder, of Branch Basics! On this episode we have a deep dialogue on toxic chemicals, endocrine disruptors, and the importance of green cleaning.
We also discuss Allison's personal journey to her work, starting from desperately seeking relief from sudden unexplained chronic pain and a loss of motor skills that over a dozen doctors could not diagnose. Fortunately, her Aunt Marilee, helped connect her physical breakdown to chemical exposure from the building materials in her newly-constructed apartment. After spending a summer living with Marilee - where everything Allison put in, on and around her body was truly clean - her symptoms disappeared and she experienced whole-body healing. She then went on to naturally reverse PCOS and, in 2016, conceive a beautiful baby girl, something doctors told her would never happen. This whole body transformation, inspired the women to create their company and spread their knowledge and mission to individuals everywhere!
Branch basics is human safe, plant and mineral based, free of harmful preservatives, biodegradable, non gmo and not tested on animals. They also minimize waste by providing refills for cleaning containers you only receive once and reuse over and over again. Branch Basics is dedicated to providing cleaning and laundry products to the public that create non-toxic home environments and cultivate good health.

This week on the Courageous Wellness podcast we sit down with Genevieve Riutort, the Chief Development Officer, of the Westside Food Bank. Westside Food Bank is an independent, non-governmental, 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation founded in 1981, which provides food to social service agencies on the Westside of Los Angeles County. Westside Food Bank serves 70 member agencies and over 100,000 people benefit from these services each year.
On this episode we discuss the Westside Food Bank, Genevieve's personal journey to her current position, fighting food insecurity, the importance of social services, and our own personal experiences dealing with food insecurity.
